River of Life, Channel of Death: Fish & Dams on the Lower Snake
Published in Paperback by Oregon State Univ Pr (October, 2001)
Average review score:

PoignantThis book is an extremely well constructed, balanced perspective about the problems with the Lower Snake River dams. The writing is clear and consise, which is crucial when explaining such a complex issue. The author does not use emotional arguments to outrage the reader. Rather, he presents the facts that surround the issue and uses those to draw a well thought out conclusion. We have much to gain by preserving salmon in the Northwest.

Sayonaraville: A Jake Rossiter and Miss Jenkins Mystery (Colbert, Curt, Jake Rossiter & Miss Jenkins Mystery.)
Published in Paperback by Uglytown Productions (01 July, 2003)
Average review score:

Curt Colbert vs Jake RossiterCurt Colbert displays a very unique writing style. Even though his principle character, Jake Rossiter often speaks with short cliches - he thinks vividly with a much higher language. It is apparent that Jake is a highly self-educated man but is more comfortable while dealing with people in the language of his youth.
Sayonaraville is an outstanding tale that transcends the story line. It displays a softness in Rossiter's character that was not evident in "Rat City". Jake Rossiter has grown. He even manages to put aside the prejudice developed while fighting in the Pacific at the end.
One has to wonder about the influence on him from Miss Jenkins. Curt Colbert teases us with a developing relationship between Miss Jenkins and Jake. She has gone from his girl "Friday" to his partner. And was that just a hint of jealosy that I detected when other men paid attention to her? It will be very interesting to see where this relationship is going to go. In her own way, Miss Jenkins is every bit as tough as Jake.
Sayonaraville is an excellent novel in its own right and it is more than just adequate in backing up Curt's Shamus award nominee "Rat City". I am already waiting to see where Curt takes me next. Curt - don't make me wait so long for your next installment. I need more - now!

The Seattle Children's Theatre: Six Plays for Young Actors (Young Actors Series)
Published in Paperback by Smith & Kraus (August, 1996)
Average review score:

WONDERFUL!The Seattle Children's Theatre is one of the leading companies in the field of theatre for youth. This collection of plays is an example of how they have reached that status. Each play is well written, quality theatre. If you are looking for more than the slapstick, silly plays often written for children look here. These plays are stories of the heart and of real life situations often seen from the child's perspective. At the same time they are not overly sentimental or sappy. I can't wait to be able to produce any one of these plays myself!
